Fixation Stick of the Virtual Mummy
In Ptolemaic and Roman times the embalmers often used an element of fixation. This could be a wooden board placed under the body or a little stick introduced directly into the body.
In the case of this mummy, the embalmers inserted a stick starting from the thorax along the cervical vertebras to the palate. Judging from the cross-section, one can determine the material of the stick: it is the middle rib of a date leaf.
Described parts of the head: mask, ring of justification, linen cover, skull, ointment, stick, coffin.
